Morgan & Quinn | Rainy Summer Vineyard Wedding in Midway, KY
There’s something unpredictable about a wedding day. Forecasts change, timelines shift, and sometimes you just have to roll with it.
Morgan and Quinn’s wedding was a perfect example.
This was my first wedding back after maternity leave, and it was a fun one to step back into. Their day was relaxed and classic, with khaki tuxes, soft olive bridesmaid dresses, blush florals, and thoughtful details throughout.
The biggest wildcard was the weather.
They had planned for an outdoor ceremony, and everything was set up and ready to go when the rain moved in. Guests were just about to take their seats when the decision was made to quickly move everything indoors.
Within minutes, family members and the wedding party were moving chairs, vendors were rearranging tables, and a ceremony space was pulled together inside. It wasn’t what anyone had originally planned, but the quick change kept the day moving and made for a pretty memorable ceremony setup.
Once the rain passed, we were able to get outside for portraits in the greenery around the property. And then, just when we thought the day was winding down, fog started settling over the vineyard during blue hour.
Naturally, we had to take advantage of it.
Morgan and Quinn were willing to head back outside with me for a few final portraits, and that last little stretch of the evening ended up producing some of my favorite images from the day.
A little rain, a last-minute ceremony change, beautiful summer greenery, and an unexpected foggy sunset made for a wedding day that certainly didn’t go exactly according to plan, but gave us plenty to photograph along the way.
